On Saturday, Cayman Brac’s Creek & Spot Bay Primary Schools celebrated the official opening of their new playing fields, during a ceremony attended by Sister Islands representatives Moses Kirkconnell and Juliana O’Connor-Connolly.
The project was tendered back in June 2020, and a $216,180 contract was awarded to the winning bidder Vigoro Nursery in October.
According to the government’s procurement website, the project comprises an artificial turf football field 180 feet in length and 120 feet in width.

A separate project, for an artificial sports field at Cayman Brac’s West End Primary School, was put out to tender in December 2020 and awarded to Vigoro in January 2021. The amount of the contract does not appear on the website yet.
In January 2019, the government awarded contracts to build playing fields at several primary schools in Grand Cayman, as well as at Spot Bay Primary in the Brac. (See the Cayman Compass story from the time.)
