Truth for Youth made ‘Weak’ progress on addressing recommendations from the Office of Education Standards.
In February 2020, the primary school was rated ‘Weak’ by inspectors, who made 4 key recommendations.
Inspectors conducted a Follow-Through Inspection 23-25 Feb. and found the school had made ‘Weak’ progress on all 4 recommendations.
Here are the results of the Follow-Through Inspection:
- Develop system for collecting, documenting and analysing data: WEAK
- Improve student learning and progress: WEAK
- Improve the curriculum: WEAK
- Improve school leadership: WEAK
According to the OES report, “At the time of this Follow-Through Inspection, a new Principal was in post, however; a deputy principal was not yet appointed. The current Principal had served as the Deputy Principal in the previous administration. Consequently, she was aware of the areas that were identified for improvement from the previous inspection. However, Inspectors recognised that very little had been done to address the recommendations from the previous inspection report.”
Truth For Youth has 168 students on roll, including 84 Caymanians.
Because the school was rated ‘Weak’, OES will conduct another Follow-Through Inspection within 6 months.
